History!

Hello. I'm Ryan. I study History at Missouri State University.
"August 15, 1961, on the third day after the start of the Berlin Wall, at 16:00 in the Bernauer Straße 19-year-old military border guard Conrad Schumann leapt over the coils of barbed wire, indicating the future line the walls, and ran to the police car in West Berlin, which stood nearby. Conrad was lucky - while in the Army of the GDR did not have orders to shoot the deserters.
Later, he was allowed to move into the territory of West Germany and stayed in Bavaria. In 1998, suffering from a severe mental illness, Schumann committed suicide.”
